Snow boots? What are they?

UK flagWhere I come from you wear shoes.  For the odd wintery day a pair of wellington boots will suffice.  boots graphic 1Boots (of the non-wellington kind) are for walkers, hikers, etc.  I’ve got a nice pair of walking boots somewhere amongst all the stuff in storage.  Anyway, I have been a good family member and bowed to advice that people here need boots appropriate for the winter.  The kids need boots in which to go back and forth to school.  boots graphic 2I (apparently) need boots for all the snow clearing I’ll be doing off the driveway.

So, today we went boot shopping.  With their days at school and their hectic schedule during other parts of the week we don’t often get a chance to go into a shop with the kids in tow, and for boots we need the feet present.  Clearly my information was correct as shoe departments in stores across Erie were fullboots graphic 3 of families fighting over the right size boot in various styles.  Luckily our kids are very good and we didn’t have any battles about style over functionality that some other parents were suffering.  boots graphic 4Some of the boots seemed fine ‘up top’ but had no grip at all on the sole.

I am sure that the full and proper winter that Erie gets will surprise me, however much I think I am prepared for it.  I intend to enjoy it, come what may, though after today’s expedition there’s still one member of the household without any winter boots.  Want to guess who it is?  :-)
