A test of character
Back in the UK the Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, says that the recession is a test of character for the British people. You know, I can’t remember the last time I agreed with anything the man said, but on this occasion I think he’s right. Maybe more than he means…
The worldwide recession is indeed a test of character. For everyone. Some very rich people have been reduced to ‘normal’ levels, while the man in the street is having a hard time. It’s no good complaining (though sometimes it just feels good to do so), we all just have to figure out the best way through these hard times. So Gordon’s right, surprisingly.
It is also a revealer of character. Specifically, the characters that got the world into this mess. And guess what? In my opinion Gordon is one of them. So, classic political spin or an admission of responsibility? I’d like to think it was the latter but don’t believe it!
Note: It was a quiet day, a day of trying to finish off the turkey (and losing) and wondering where winter had gone, so naturally a political comment was necessary
