Today has been rather hectic in the job hunt arena.  A telephone interview (after last week’s failure to communicate) with a bank in Cleveland and arrangements for a face-to-face set of interviews in Buffalo.  Things are looking up.  We must be on the “quick, quick” part of the employment tango.

I think today’s telephone interview went well, but should I be joining a bank while the economic turmoil is as it is?  Will the bank still be there when I turn up on my first day?  It wouldn’t be the first such event - old news, but topical, from the Independent newspaper.  I wouldn’t like, after all our efforts to relocate, to end up in that position.  Which bank?  Right now, does it matter?  No bank seems to be ’safe’.

All the phone calls today have highlighted the dead zone for cell signals in our rental house.  We knew it existed, but today it has been particularly problematic.  It isn’t just AT&T….the Jolt phones we had to tide us over when we first arrived had the same problem.  Just one room seems to be affected, and unfortunately it is the room we’re using for our technology stuff.  Sod’s Law strikes again

Tomorrow I think we’ll nip over to Cleveland to do a bit of on-the-spot research into houses, districts, etc.  The trip last month to Buffalo was very useful so let’s go look at Cleveland!  (Where did I put the Satnav?)

As I believe a number of you have the iPhone 3G, be aware Apple have recalled the small power adapter that comes with it.  No panic, but fill in their online form to order up a replacement.

My precious iPhone lives in a Griffin Nu Form case.  I’m not precious about covering up a bit of the styling of the iPhone, I’m practical.  The big selling points of the iPhone are in the functionality (though the design is lovely) and I like to protect things.

Anyway, I noticed yesterday that the case had developed a crack at one corner.  Unsightly, and cracks tend to lengthen.  You’ll just have to believe me when I say that I haven’t dropped the phone - I’d have remembered such a traumatic event  

A quick check online shows that quite a few people have had the same problem though I couldn’t find anyone who had done anything but rant about it.  In my experience ranting and raving gets you nowhere.  So I wrote Griffin a nice email explaining the situation and asking them what they could do about it.  Less than 24 hours later and a replacement case is in the post to me.  I have to send the old one back (fair enough) but as it is a phone case they are happy to send the new one out first, before receiving the old one back from me.

That, in my view, is superb customer service.  I have a couple of other Griffin products around the place and while their products usually compete for my money with Belkin equivalents from now on there will not be so much of a decision to make….customer service like that demands to be appreciated.

No real Erie news to mention - just another day trying to find a job.  The business cards I mentioned a couple of days ago are ordered and should be here in a few days, so that enterprise can move forward.
