Wishing on a star

US flagHubby has talked to the bank.  I’ve talked to the real estate agent.  Someone has talked to the insurance company, the lawyers and a few stray people who have some special interest or other.

house graphicAnd there are (apparently) small amounts of progress being made on the house purchase.  I’m trying very hard to be patient.  It isn’t easy.  I want this house very badly.  (I love it a lot…it has just about everything we were looking for and a lot of extras we weren’t expecting but that will be really nice.  But more than that, I want us to get moved and settled and be a family again!)  And every bit of progress is good news.

I’m trying very hard not to get too hopeful that things will be sorted quickly.  Christmas is still looming with all the days off that go with it and New Year.  It would be lovely to have a closing date sorted so we can start telling schools and other people exactly when we might be moving….

Corporate relocation progress

UK flagThings are progressing fast, which is good.  We just need to keep up!  So far two banks have pre-approved me for a mortgage.  Yes, there’s corporate agreements in place, but I have no credit history (none worth getting excited about) in the US and lending is tighter than it has been for a while.  removals graphicHowever, we are cleared to go house hunting.

Somewhere in Buffalo a realtor has our details and should be in touch soon to learn what we are looking for in a house.  The sooner they can arrange a grand tour of some possible houses the better, as far as we are concerned.

All our personal effects, in storage in a warehouse somewhere since they arrived by sea from the UK, are prepaid to a PA address.  Seems the company concerned will ask for around $250 more to deliver to a Buffalo, NY address.  Can’t win them all.

Now I must get studying for my blood test tomorrow…
