Today we probably looked around our new house.  We took the video camera with us, as past experience shows when you look at a load of houses in one day they all begin to blur into one another.  The video files are processing right now onto DVD so we can review immediately and the kids can have some input too.  Yes, we could review directly from the camera to the TV but we will undoubtedly want to revisit sections far more than once, so easier just to burn to a DVD.

On the one hand this is a very big decision, on the other hand we ideally need to move fairly fast.  Finding the right balance between those two positions is the difficult bit!  We think we’ll head back on Wednesday to take a closer look at these two properties, but there’s a lot of debating to do between now and then - starting as soon as the DVD has been burned.

The new bluetooth headset worked fine.  It did exactly what it said on the box.  Whether that was due 100% to the headset itself, or in some part to the quality of the phone it was paired with (an iPhone, of course) is debatable.  The end result is what counts, and the end result was great.

This won’t mean much to the US readers, but…

St. Helens 16 - 24 Leeds Rhinos

Yes, while the US readers / viewers are getting into the American Football season the Rugby League season is ending with the 2008 Grand Final.  Leeds, going into the match as underdogs after a 38-10 defeat by the Saints two weeks ago, put up a tremendous display to retain their title from 2007.

Luckily the BBC website had a continuously updated text feed, and I had my iPhone, so I stayed in touch with the very tense match throughout the afternoon here.

There is nothing more important to mention for today.  Yes, we went to the craft fair at Zem Zem Shrine Club.  Yes, the kids had dance class, taekwondo and swimming (not all at the same time).  But none of that matters.  Leeds are grand Champions again and will have the chance to retain their World Champions title at the start of 2009.  Well done Rhinos!

My precious iPhone lives in a Griffin Nu Form case.  I’m not precious about covering up a bit of the styling of the iPhone, I’m practical.  The big selling points of the iPhone are in the functionality (though the design is lovely) and I like to protect things.

Anyway, I noticed yesterday that the case had developed a crack at one corner.  Unsightly, and cracks tend to lengthen.  You’ll just have to believe me when I say that I haven’t dropped the phone - I’d have remembered such a traumatic event  

A quick check online shows that quite a few people have had the same problem though I couldn’t find anyone who had done anything but rant about it.  In my experience ranting and raving gets you nowhere.  So I wrote Griffin a nice email explaining the situation and asking them what they could do about it.  Less than 24 hours later and a replacement case is in the post to me.  I have to send the old one back (fair enough) but as it is a phone case they are happy to send the new one out first, before receiving the old one back from me.

That, in my view, is superb customer service.  I have a couple of other Griffin products around the place and while their products usually compete for my money with Belkin equivalents from now on there will not be so much of a decision to make….customer service like that demands to be appreciated.

No real Erie news to mention - just another day trying to find a job.  The business cards I mentioned a couple of days ago are ordered and should be here in a few days, so that enterprise can move forward.
