Mailboxes: The saga continues

UK flagIn the ongoing battle between mailboxes and humans I have today had some assistance.  Someone, or something, decapitated our mailbox.  Not completely…the top was still connected by a small piece of material but the mailbox is, to all intents and purposes, dead.  postbox graphic[Afficianados may now commence quoting from the Monty Python parrot sketch]  Our post was a little soggy and very cold when we recovered it, but readable.  The mailbox is just scrap.

I am told it was probably the snow plough that was responsible.  No way of proving anything, but it would be a big coincidence for this to happen on the first real snowfall of the winter and when the plough is zipping up and down our road rather quite fast.  In this instance it is a matter for our landlord rather than ourselves to sort it out.  How many more mailboxes will die this winter?

UK flagI hang my head in remorse and admit that today I took on a mailbox in the Ford Explorer and, predictably, the mailbox lost.  We were looking round houses today and while reversing out of the driveway of one of them I slightly adjusted the angle at which their mailbox was positioned.  Just slightly.  Or maybe a little more than slightly.  We didn’t cut and run but owned up, and our Agent will inform the seller’s agent and make sure things are sorted - I have offered to pay the bill to sort it out, all fair and square.

So, you other drivers out there have nothing to fear from me as long as you are moving.  Park, or just obey a stop sign, and you could be next!  :-)

What a day!  Six houses viewed today, and it was hard work.  Add in the three we saw on Sunday and probably 4 out of those 9 are possible candidates.  We need to go through all the paperwork and notes we took this evening to reach agreement on each of the 9 houses, but I think we are in general agreement just from the chats while traveling from house to house.  The kids’ opinions seem to be based solely on the color and size of the bedrooms - if only life really was that simple.

We got our money back from PictureMe for the rejected passport photos.  They were very nice about it.  Well done PictureMe!  And the money will be useful for the mailbox bill….
