Mailboxes: The saga continues
Monday, November 10th, 2008
In the ongoing battle between mailboxes and humans I have today had some assistance. Someone, or something, decapitated our mailbox. Not completely…the top was still connected by a small piece of material but the mailbox is, to all intents and purposes, dead.
[Afficianados may now commence quoting from the Monty Python parrot sketch] Our post was a little soggy and very cold when we recovered it, but readable. The mailbox is just scrap.
I am told it was probably the snow plough that was responsible. No way of proving anything, but it would be a big coincidence for this to happen on the first real snowfall of the winter and when the plough is zipping up and down our road rather quite fast. In this instance it is a matter for our landlord rather than ourselves to sort it out. How many more mailboxes will die this winter?
