Speed trap

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

UK flagToday we had to operate at the speed of the rest of the world rather than at our speed.  Sometimes, however much you try, you just can’t drag the rest of the world along at your pace, however frustrating it may be.

We are now in a period of waiting for work.  There have been a number of job applications submitted and there’s nothing we can do to hurry the organizations along.  There’s no rush, it is just that neither of us are used to being idle and you can only put up with so much of the kids on a 24/7 basis :-)   We took them shopping for beds today.  Proper beds rather than the temporary solution that met the “basic essentials” need of the rental house in the short term.  Both kids have clear ideas about what they want and why they want it.  As parents it is our job to adjust the “why they want it” to meet reality and then help them adjust the “what they want” to fit.  Or something like that.

Tomorrow we are heading away somewhere for the day.  Undecided exactly where….we’ll decide in the morning.  Meanwhile, we wait.  They say patience is a virtue, so maybe we need to learn to be more virtuous!  And to make sure the cell phones have a signal….
